Since it is still early in the planning process, we will probably add to this list over the coming months. Here’s what we know we need so far:

  • Meal planning ideas. Perhaps we could have a theme each night, such as Italian Night, BBQ, Turkey Dinner, Mexican Fiesta. We need to decide who will bring what, and how each meal will be prepared and cleaned up.
  • Air mattresses. It is possible that we will not have enough beds for every person. It would be nice if we at least had air mattresses to offer. If you have one or can borrow one, please let us know.

The following ideas can be organized or left to our imagination when we get there:

  • Group Activities. Ideas include card tournament, board game night, pool tournament, whiffle ball game
  • Excursion planning. There are many attractions in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area including the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, so perhaps someone would like to volunteer to organize an excursion one day.
  • Movie/Game list. If we get really organized, we can start a list of our favorite movies we would like to bring. Starting a list serves multiple purposes: we won’t all bring the same movie, and if anyone wants (or does not want) a particular movie we can add/delete it from the list.

There's a lot more to do in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area than we ever dreamed!  There are so many places to shop from the outlet malls to the rustic furniture shops.  In Pigeon Forge of course there is Dollywood, the Dixie Stampede, and tons of other shows.  There are also many big go-cart tracks, mini-golf, helicopter tours, the NASCAR speedway.  In Gatlinburg, there is the Space Needle, the incredible Aquarium, and Ripley's Believe It or Not takes up an entire block.  If you want a more peaceful venue, the Great Smoky National Park is nearby, as well as horseback riding, white water rafting, and more!
